travel resolutions

Last year, I made some travel resolutions. I’m pretty happy that basically kept all of them!

2011 TRAVEL RESOLUTIONS:

1. Stop wasting miles!

Resolution kept: Yes!
I did not waste miles this year (except on some hotels) and finally booked what is arguably the BEST use of miles — the mini RTW with Aeroplan.

2. Stop going to places I’ve already been.

Resolution kept: Mostly!
I mean, I did still go to Japan again. And I also went to Paris again. But I did go to new countries: Switzerland, China, South Korea, and Macau.

3. Stop being so snobby about sun destinations.

Resolution kept: Mostly!
I still think that an all-inclusive resort in Mexico sounds super pedestrian and boring, but I DID go to Hawaii. And I liked it.

4. Fly to more airports!

Resolution kept: Yes!
Visiting new countries = visiting new airports.

5. Improve my Japanese.

Resolution kept: Sort of!
I stopped taking lessons but I have been watching TV Japan almost every day. You learn surprisingly little from watching TV, but whatever. I’m still learning, sort of. I also went to Japan, which counts for learning… right?

6. Fly in first class more often.

Resolution kept: Yes!
I definitely flew in the front cabin(s) more often this year. First or business class to myriad US destinations (including Hawaii), Paris, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong. And yet, I’m still happy to fly in economy.
