I know I said I was finished with Japan stuff, but I forgot about this photo. I think this was Shinagawa Station. This is the coolest thing ever: if you press “help” on the ticket-buying kiosks, a DUDE POPS OUT OF THE WALL. Literally. The wall opens and there’s a guy standing there.
It’s amazing. You’d never know the wall opened unless you pressed the help button.
Are you bored of hearing about Japan yet? THIS IS MY LAST ENTRY! Well, last entry about Japan, that is. At least, until I go again. (Maybe next year, or as soon as a cheap YYZ-NRT or YYZ-HND flight pops up. I have no qualms about going to Tokyo for the weekend.)
Anyway, this entry is about Tsukiji Market. Tsukiji is the biggest fish market IN THE WORLD. The world!
We did not go for the tuna auction. Not only do I not enjoy waking up at 4am, but they have a ticket system for tourists now that seemed too annoying to bother with. When we were in Tokyo in April, the tuna auction was actually closed to tourists entirely. I get it though — I totally felt like I was in the way the entire time I was wandering around. People are just trying to do their jobs, and stupid tourists peering at their eels isn’t exactly helpful.
Anyway, the main reason we wanted to go Tsukiji was to EAT SUSHI! This is Daiwa Sushi, one of the two most famous sushi restaurants in Tsukiji (the other is Sushi Dai). They both always have very long lineups. We waited about an hour, but sometimes the lineup is much longer. This was around 8am.
A lot of people would like to eat sushi for breakfast.

OH MY GOD IT WAS WORTH IT. Seriously. Best sushi I’ve ever had. Fresh from the sea that morning, perfect and melt-in-your-mouth buttery deliciousness. How can I ever eat mall sushi ever again? Thanks a lot, Daiwa Sushi.
