This is my last entry about Honolulu! Which is good, because I have a lot of things to post about my more recent adventure in Asia! So here are a bunch of photos that didn’t fit anywhere else. Mostly they all depress me since it’s minus a million degrees and snowing right now in Toronto. Sigh.
One of the very few non-Japanese meals we ate. Loco moco for Mike…
…and salmon eggs benedict for me.
Kona coffee because… Hawaii!
Honolulu’s Chinatown is a bit strange and depressing.
Shave ice. So good.
KYARY PAMYU PAMYU BUS! A weird thing about Waikiki is that there are all these tour buses that are Japanese only. The signage is only in Japanese and only Japanese people can ride them. You have to buy tickets in Japan and/or be part of a Japanese tour group so even if you want to, you cannot ride them. (We saw a white guy try to get on one and he was swiftly rejected.)
Riding a non-Japanese trolley. There were a bunch of Japanese tourists, and the (Hawaiian) driver would point out random things in Japanese for their benefit. We passed a giraffe and he yelled at them “KIRIN DA!” (it’s a giraffe!) and it was kind of funny to me.
Apparently this houses was used in The Descendants. (Which is a really good movie!)
We went to the Waikiki Aquarium, which I do not recommend. Pretty much the worst aquarium ever.
But we had time to kill before our really late flight that day so whatever. Fish!
Aquariums make for cool photos, at least.
And they had a seal.
Here’s the outside of the aquarium so that you know what not to visit.
The last beach photo and the end!
