Ah, Coex Mall. Asia’s largest underground shopping mall, full of fun Korean stores and (apparently) K-pop celebrities. The mall is in Gangnam, but the closest subway station is¬†Samseong Station.

I love you, Korean makeup! Etude House was having a 50% off sale while I was there.

All of the benches in Coex Mall are weirdly sponsored by Lotte Duty Free.

While we were there, the Samsung Galaxy S4 had just been released, so the mall was basically wall-to-wall Samsung.

IMG_6534

Korea loves its Samsung phones. Tiny girls with giant Samsung phones are the norm.

One of the movie theatres in the mall.

Movie posters always look cooler in foreign languages.

Hey, it’s Psy!

Coex Aquarium, which I wrote about in this post.

IMG_6544

In the Kimchi Museum. Yes, the mall even has a museum devoted to kimchi.

IMG_6548

So many kinds of kimchi!

IMG_6549

Everything’s in English too, which is nice.

IMG_6553

There’s this display with this lady and a bunch of hats and the instructions say to put on a hat and take a photo with her…

IMG_6550

So obviously Mike did! Hat #1.

IMG_6554

And hat #2!

IMG_6558

In some sort of kimchi dish-related hallway.

IMG_6559

I don’t know what’s going on here.

IMG_6563

I said there was English, but I didn’t say it was good English.

IMG_6564

Pickles from around the world.

In the same way that I like visiting McDonalds in different countries, I like visiting malls in different countries. They’re always an interesting cultural barometer, and how many malls in the world have a kimchi museum?
