As soon as we got off the train in San Francisco, we headed over to the Swan Oyster Depot to eat seafood and meet up with Michael and Hampton. Seafood for breakfast? YES PLEASE. The place is basically like an old school diner, but you know, with seafood. Lots of seafood.
Swan Oyster Depot was already famous but it was recently (at the time) featured on Anthony Bourdain’s The Layover, so the lineup before IT EVEN OPENED was already long. I am not the only person who wants to eat sweet, fresh crab for breakfast. Apparently all of America wants to eat crab for breakfast, since Lucky Peach also named it the “Best Place to Eat in America.”
Oh hey, it’s Michael and Hampton!
So close, I can almost taste the crab.
YES! Finally time for eating. Bring me some crab!
Oysters, since it is called Swan OYSTER Depot, after all.
Someone else’s unimportant meal that does not contain crab.
Beautiful, beautiful crab salad. Sweet and tangy and crunchy and crab-y and so delicious. I love you, Swan Oyster Depot. Special thanks to all the crabs that died for my meal.
